Dr. Lori didn’t always know that she wanted to be a dentist, but working with kids was certainly her destiny. From summer camp counsellor to behaviour therapist for kids with autism, Dr. Lori made it her mission to impact the lives of children. She received an honours degree in Physiology in 2003 and graduated from the University of Western Ontario’s dental school in 2008. She then completed a residency program at Sickkids where she treated children with a wide spectrum of medical/developmental conditions. Working at Sickkids solidified her love for pediatric dentistry and she went on to complete a 3 year Masters/specialty program in Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Toronto in 2012.
Becoming a mom was the best thing that happened to Dr. Lori, both personally and professionally. It greatly impacted the way she practices dentistry and the way she relates to children. She emphasizes the importance of listening to children- to their words and to their body language. A child needs to feel heard and understood and earning the trust of her patients is her number one priority. After that, it’s easy to make the visits fun!
